our leadership

The Data Science practice at Carte is led by Dr. Vijay Sankaran. He founded Carte Solutions in 2004 with the vision to transform a computationally intensive paradigm of Analytics into a set of services that could be easily integrated into enterprise operations.  Dr. Sankaran manages a team of analysts, statisticians, data mining engineers, ETL specialists, and business domain experts in several client engagements. At Carte Dr. Sankaran has led analytics projects in integrated marketing, social media, CRM, credit risk assessment, credit card fraud detection, cross-product profitability, portfolio optimization, geo-spatial reasoning for logistics and for storm readiness and for insurance claims fraud, customer segmentation, psychometrics, pricing, product propensity, underwriting, workflow availability/utilization, and manufacturing yield enhancement. He is proficient with most BigData technologies including Hadoop, Pig, Hive, BigInsights, Madlib, Radian6, Clarabridge, R, SAS, and has worked with Tableau, Spotfire, Business Objects, Hyperion, ESSBase, DB2, Teradata, Oracle, DataStage, Ab Initio, Informatica, ErWin, and DBArtisan. List of companies he has consulted at include USAA, Freescale Semiconductor, Global Foundries, AMD, Texas Instruments, Fidelity National Information Services, Stewart Title, Xtria (now Accusystems) and Dell. Dr. Sankaran holds a Ph.D. (Thesis: Machine Learning in Advanced Manufacturing) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, NY, a Masters degree in Computer Aided Design from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, and a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Trichy, India. In his spare time, Dr. Sankaran can be found immersed in audio and lighting equipment at live music and theater performances, or stargazing.
